White Sage/
Wallpaper Brief Proposal Sketch

Brief:
I was asked to design a wallpaper pattern for a bedroom feature wall. The chosen colour scheme was to be light and airy, using sage greens and silver foiling.  (Something about nature and old-fashioned illustration) Beatrix Potter and William Morris are two artists that the client mentioned to be her favourites.

Concept:
It was a pretty open brief so I started by researching into plants and flowers. I put a lot of research into 1920's botanical illustrations and took these as inspiration when creating a more modern style of plant illustration. I tried different materials, techniques and styles, also trying out more simplified pieces along with more complex and ornate illustrations too.

The clients favourite artists really inspired me during this project as they're both two of my most favoured artists too. This gave me a lot to work with and I really enjoyed working on this brief. After presenting different styles of illustration and pieces I'd made, the clients really loved the 'white sage' piece and was keen to see more work similar to this and for me to begin creating a pattern from it.
